๐Ÿ’• I remember probably 35 years ago, sitting in my Grandma’s kitchen watching her and my Mom whip up a batch of homemade body cream. The food processor was out, many ingredients (mostly other types of store bought creams), all being whipped into the most luxurious body cream of all time. So I guess this making homemade soaps, creams, shampoos and cosmetics is in my blood.

๐ŸŒพ When I first ventured down this road, there was something I was clear on, I wanted it to be all as naturally derived as possible, and from scratch.

๐Ÿ“š Thus my journey developed into years or research, studying the molecular structure of different ingredients, finding out why some things worked together harmoniously and why some became a giant disaster. Years of reading. Years of research.

๐Ÿ”Ž Lots of using fabulous sources who had done the groundwork. Bought tons of e-books and took courses. Content ranging from chemists that turned into cosmetic producers, to the evolution of essential oils from gathering the natural plant material to extraction, and how to use them safely and on who.

โณCollecting the proper gear was next. Thermometers, ph testers, beakers, stuff to sterilize your equipment, a water distiller, and of course something to put your finished product in! Everytime I turned around, I need a new piece of equipment! But having the right tools is essential to success!

๐Ÿ’ซ If this sounds crazy to you, you’re not alone! At some point I am sure that everyone in my family thought I’d gone totally looney. โ‰๏ธโ‰๏ธ All this work, just to have ultimate control over what’s in the products your family is using? CRAZY!! But worth it! I love doing it! I love knowing why preservatives are so super important in products that contain water or have potential contact with dirty fingers and how to create a shampoo or conditioner that is just perfect for my individual hair type! Love it all!!

๐Ÿ“ Finally testing. Always, constantly testing all my products. These products are on me before my family members, and months and months before I ever think to sell them. Sometimes I do recruit close friends to test with me, just to get a better variety of skin types to try them on. Voluntarily of course! ๐Ÿ˜Š

If this interests you, I encourage you to give it a whirl! Just make sure you are doing your research and methodically putting in the due diligence when it comes to end product and chemical handling safety.

Try new things! It’s so worth it to know exactly what’s in whatever your slathering all over your precious bodies!!

I’ve tried to make a few things…Even a “whipped” shaving cream for Marty and my sister at Christmas that was horrid! Most things I try end up blah at best lol. I’ll stick with buying it from you I think!!
